DQ Announces Calendar of Events for 2024
Published Tue 24 Oct 2023
Diving Queensland is excited to share our 2024 Calendar of Events with our membership and broader community stakeholders.
This release also follows Diving Australia’s recent announcement that 3 major national events will be held in Queensland over the next 12 months with the Brisbane Aquatic Centre due to play host to the Oceania Championships (November 2023), the Australian World Championships Team Selection Trials (December 2023) & the Australian Elite Junior Championships (September 2024).
As such, the scheduling of our DQ competitive events being announced today takes into account consultation with key community stakeholders and is strategically aligned with the Diving Australia, School Sport Australia & World Aquatics’ calendars (where available) in an effort to maximise athlete preparations and community engagement.
Most notably, for the first time in three years, the Calendar of Events will bring about the return of two separate Queensland State Championships in 2024. Diving Queensland will hold the Queensland Age & Open State Championships in February and the Queensland Elite Junior State Championships in July.
This change ensures that both our Age and Elite Junior stream competitors will have the opportunity to contest a Queensland State Championships at a time that supports their preparation for their respective National Championships.
We’d also like to highlight the return of Diving Queensland Qualifying Competitions to the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre next year. This comes as our 2023 event was necessarily rescheduled due to scheduled refurbishment works at this venue.
Finally, it is intended that additional DQ event offerings including the provision of educational courses (register your interest for these offerings here) and broader community-focused events will be added to this Calendar as planning for these initiatives continues. The most up to date Calendar can always be found at the DQ website and any changes that are made to this document will be promptly communicated to all relevant stakeholders and affected parties.
Diving Queensland, in conjunction with our clubs and our integral workforce of volunteers and event officials look forward to bringing this Calendar of Events to life in 2024.
