School Sport Australia hold an annual Diving Championship for boys and girls aged 10 to 19 years

The School Sport Diving Championships is a sporting event for school students aged ten to nineteen years.  This event provides educational opportunities for Australian and International students through diving, an educational excursion, and social diving events where QLD students interact with students from other states in team events. 

In 2016, the Diving Championships are being held at Lightning Ridge, NSW.  This is going to be an extremely unique experience for students, to not only experience true outback Australia, but dive in a world class indoor facility.

Diving Queensland in partnership with Queensland School Sport will conduct the selection trials on Saturday 21st May 2016

Competition start times:

• Dry warm up will commence from 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm
• Water warm up will commence from 1:00 pm - 1:30 pm
• Competition to commence at 1:30 pm
• Finish time to be confirmed

Venue:

• Brisbane Aquatic Centre, Brisbane, Queensland

Competition Entry Fees:

• $25 registration and nomination fee includes springboard event fee
• $15 for platform event

There will only be two events run at the trials.  A springboard event which will consist of either all dives off 1 metre, or all dives off 3 metre, or a combination of both 1 metre and 3 metre.  The second event will be a platform event.

Please read the competition requirements for each age group for both springboard and platform (platform has height restrictions depending on age of competitor).  The School Sport Australia Diving Rules and Guidelines are attached.

There will be no synchro event held at the trial.  

As well as the two individual events, all selected QLD team members will compete in a synchro event at the championships in August/September, as well as a team event, and a knock out competition.

This is fantastic because if a student is only able to do a springboard event, they will actually get to do 4 events.

• Sunday 8th of May

Dive sheets:

• Online dive sheets to be submitted online via diverecorder by Wednesday 18th May, 6pm
• Changes to dive sheets will NOT be accepted after 09:00 am on Friday 20th May, 2016
• Any changes made from 6pm on Wednesday 18th May to 9am Friday 20th must be notified to Heidi Graymore - Team Manager, at schoolsport@divingqld.org.au and/or 0430 885849 immediately.

EARLY PAYMENT AND SUBMISSION OF DIVE SHEETS IS ALWAYS APPRECIATED

Eligibility: 

• All competitors must be bona fide school students attaining a minimum age of 10 years and a maximum age of 19 years in the year of competition (1997 to 2006)
• Age requirements are the age the student will be as at the 31st December 2016

What to wear:

• If your school has a sports uniform and togs, you can wear these, as you are representing your school.  However, uniforms will not be enforced on the day.
